The school evaluation is a process that includes collecting information in a regular and continuous manner about the performance of schools, identifying strengths and opportunities for improvement in their performance, and issuing judgments about their development efforts in terms of their effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability, in light of the school evaluation and excellence standards approved by Education and Training Evaluation Commission.
The school evaluation is one of the most important processes for improving education, and it is the basis for education and teaching development, and a start point for improving public education in all its elements and levels. The school evaluation is concerned with measuring the quality of educational performance, and gains its importance from diagnosing the reality of performance with its inputs, processes and outputs. The school evaluation provides schools with added value by spreading the culture of self-evaluation among schools, and providing them with planning and organizational culture. Thus, the school evaluation represents the main starting point for the development of education and ensuring its quality

School accreditation is an official recognition granted by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, or an entity authorized by it, that the school has met the conditions and standards for school accreditation for a specific period of time.
Accreditation will be implemented for private and international schools as an optional process that goes through several stages, starting with the preparation and nomination stage, then the stage of self-evaluation and external evaluation, and ending with the schools obtaining full accreditation for a period of five years, or conditional accreditation for a period of two years.

A self-practice carried out by the school represented in codified internal processes and procedures to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement in its actual performance, and to verify its efficiency and effectiveness in accordance with the standards and methodology of the Education and Training Evaluation Commission through the technical platform for school evaluation that automates all evaluation processes, to build on its results a plan for development and enhancement.
In the process of self-evaluation, the school uses the school evaluation and excellence standards approved by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission, which include the most important indicators that lead to improving the learners’ learning process and the quality of school performance. Self-evaluation processes provide reliable information supported by evidence about the level of quality of the school's performance in each standard of evaluation and school excellence.

The external evaluation aims to evaluate the performance of public and private education schools in the light of the criteria for evaluation and school excellence approved by the commission, and to provide reliable data on the strengths and weaknesses of schools’ performance that can be used by educational policy makers and decision makers. For the purpose of developing public education in the Kingdom.
The external evaluation of public and private schools is carried out by an independent, trained, external evaluation team licensed by the commission. The members have sufficient knowledge and experience in evaluation standards and school excellence. They also have the knowledge competencies and personal characteristics necessary to carry out all evaluation procedures, in accordance with the policies and procedures approved by the ETEC Board of Directors.
